Welcome, my name is Andrew DeClercq. During camp your child will get the chance to work on their fundamental basketball skills, the building blocks to being a great basketball player. All the players in the NBA and college level have mastered these basics. Just like building a tall skyscraper, you have to dig deep and take time to develop the foundation first. But with a strong foundation the sky is the limit. At our camp we will work on the basics of ball handling, passing, shooting with correct form, individual defense, team defense, offensive moves from the perimeter and post, rebounding and the process for building strength and the conditioning needed to be successful in the game of basketball. And, of course, the best way to learn is hands on and making learning fun, so we will test these newly developed skills every day with Camp Skill Drills, 3-on-3 games, full court games, and other contests where each camper will have an opportunity to win rewards and prizes.
Over the years, I have learned a lot about life, success and faith and found that there are many things in the game of basketball that have prepared me in these areas. Specifically, basketball has taught me leadership, discipline, determination, self-confidence, respect, teamwork, ethics, perseverance, preparation, flexibility, and character. I now want to share the knowledge I have gained with your child.
I have been playing sports my whole life and basketball since I was 13 years old. I have competed at every level available in the game of basketball over my career, from middle school to high school to the NCAA Final Four in college and the NBA including the playoffs. For over 24 years, I have been involved in the game. I am now the Head Coach for the Foundation Academy Lions Boy's Basketball Team in Winter Garden, FL.
